Navigation Rant

Does anyone else find the Cruze's GPS system to be somewhat of a ripoff?

I was going to go with the 2011 Cruze, found it didn't have touch screen, and then waited for the '12 because they were just rolling them out at the time.

First, the touch screen adds nothing to the experience. I am faster rolling the wheel than trying to punch the tiny buttons and moving through the slow interface.

Did I mention the interface is slow? I can have something pulled up on Google Maps on my iPhone at least 5x faster than inputting an address in GM's clunky nav interface. Haven't they heard of a "Search" feature?

The icing on the cake - I just received a letter from GM with a "special offer". For $159.99, I can have myself all of the latest up to date information that should be free in the first place! We overpay for these units, the least they can do is throw in free updates for life! I can buy a $130 TomTom or Garmin and get free updates for life! Or ****, I can receive instant, on the fly updates with my iPhone.

How do you guys feel about this messed up system? Most car manufacturer's stance on navigation is one that is very antiquated, as proved by the fact that smartphones are the norm now and navigation should be free!
