After work I was running some errands before going to sleep and was on my way home around 1300 (I work graves in a hospital). Pulled out of a parking lot and right front was making a metal to metal contact noise dependent on speed, quieted some when breaks were applied. First thought loose/faulty brake hardware (or hitting the wear bars on the pads already!), second thought wheel bearing (but have never had one go out without warning). Pulled over and visually inspected the car, then was starting on my way home to put it in the air....oh yeah, BTB warranty, I'm not going to mess with it as I have only a few before my next shift. As I'm getting ready to call the dealership and let them know I'm bringing it in I go over some railroad tracks and speed up to 45....the sound is gone. Quick test of the brakes, no fade, no noise... then it hits me: they are seal-coating a lot of the roads and those fine little pieces of gravel like to fly up and get lodged into some fun places. Just a quick reminder to myself: if something comes up might as well stick to my old habits of putting it in the air myself. Sure glad I saved a few hours of time (and not only the embarrassment) So far my Cruze has been trouble free and hopefully it will continue that way for the next 100k and even to 200k.
