Well, I lost a friend today...in the sense that my Harmon Kardon AVR30 that I've had for 15 years blew it's right channel and I only have the left channel functioning. I absolutely loved this receiver and it's a shame that I will probably retire it out to my garage. I may just hook up both speakers to the left channel and call it good enough. I really can't see throwing it in the trash.
So I'm in the market for a new receiver and I want to go with a HDMI receiver and ditch all of the RCA cables and simplify it. My current hardware list in the following
Samsung 32" 1080P LCD - Yes I know it's on the small size, but it's the biggest one I can fit in the corner armoire that we love.
XBOX 360 Kinnect
Panasonic DVD Player - This will end up getting pulled since we use the XBOX for my daughter to play any movies.
Charter Cable HDMI Cable Box
Bose 301 Speakers
No Sub - No surround.
The living room is not an optimum area for surround speakers and subs. With the windows, opening to the dining room and door to the hallway. It would be hard to place speakers in the small room and have it balanced. Which is why I have the 301's. I figured they were the best compromise to fill the room considering the layout of it.
So needless to sat, my room is pretty simple. I figured I would explain this before I go into the receiver discussion.
Anyway, one of the receivers I'm looking at is the Denon AVR-E200. It's HDMI receiver with 4 HDMI input's a single HDMI out. Since I don't have a surround, It will be in Direct mode and just driving the 2 speakers. At $200 the price looks pretty attracting, but I've never owned a Denon before, however I've heard good things about them.
5.1 Channel 3D Pass Through AV Receiver
So what do you think?
