I've had the car for almost 2 months now and I'm still loving it. It's been everything I thought it would be and I'm still very satisfied. Had a couple minor cosmetic issues pop up and decided to make an appointment with a dealer closest to where I work to have them fixed. Issues were:
1. The rear passenger door weather stripping (Outer) was bad. There wasn't a sealing issue with it. It just looked like when it was made who ever did the final trimming on the edge of it was too aggressive and the results was a chopped finish.(Almost like the seal had a bad haircut). It began to fray and started to come apart. The seal had a fuzzy appearance to it and would pick up fibers and other items.
2. The trim piece that surrounds the touch screen has some type of sealing tape on it. Over the last week, the edge of the tape/insulation was starting to work free from the trim piece and slide over to the touch screen. There was probably a 1/8" piece of it showing when I brought it in.
Not that big of a deal, both were very minor issues.
Dropped the car off Friday morning and I had picked it up in the afternoon. Spoke to the service writer and he said everything is all set , seal looks great, fixed the trim piece for you and we washed it and vacuumed it out for you. I was thinking wow, awesome. Didn't have to do the cleaning and wash but i was grateful anyway.
Went out to look at the car and started to look at the seal and I was kinda disappointed in what I saw. The seal has a 1/4" tear in it. It was a manufacturing defect, I don't think it was done during the install. I showed the service writer the tear and said no problem. We will order another seal and bring it back next week. Also as I was looking at the seal we had the door open and noticed they didn't vacuum the floor behind the passenger seat. Which is where they spent the majority of the time during the repair...:banghead:
I understand...stuff happens and it's not that big of a deal. But the problem I have is. Does anybody have any sense of quality in there work any more?. The tech would had to be blind in not seeing the tear as well as the service writer when the repair was completed. If the seal was torn from GM that's fine. Just let me know and order another part. Set the correct expectations and take the appropriate actions to get it fixed. Don't just say, "Oh Well" and pass it on hoping that no one is going to notice and then look like an idiot when someone points it out to you.
End of rant.
