Trifecta tune experience

This was my 3rd Trifecta tune. First being my 2009 Cobalt SS turbo in 2009 and my 2012 Cruze in 2012. Cobalt required one update, Cruze required none.

This time I went in on the group buy here on the site back in July for my new 2013.

On July 10th, got the first tune. Ran it, datalogged and sent logs same day then went back to stock. Car surged and pinged.
Trifecta was on vacation that week so update is expected to take longer.

August 7th, first update arrives. Ran it, datalogged and sent logs back same day then went back to stock. Surging gone, pinging is not.

August 17th, second update arrives. Ran it, datalogged and sent logs back next morning (Sunday) then went back to stock. Pinging still present.

August 23rd, I inquired about the update. Was asked what octane I'm running which was 91. I offered to fill up at a different station as I normally go to the same Shell and do a datalog.

August 27th, I get a request for a log of the stock tune and send it in August 28th.

August 29th, 3rd update arrives. Ran it, datalogged and went back to stock. Pinging still present. Sent log back next day.

September 6th, 4th updates arrives. Ran it, datalogged and kept it tuned. Car feels smooth, no pinging. Sent log back next day.

September 12th, get the all clear from Trifecta on the log.

My car has less than 2000 miles on it. But as you can see, sometimes even a brand new car will take a bit of time to get dialed in on the tune. It's always best to purchase the cable to have on hand and go back to stock between updates. I bought the cable back in 2009 with my first tune. I'm sure that of the almost 20 people that were in on the group buy, most didn't have issues like me. However, if you are unlucky like I was, it's going to take a bit longer to get done. Be prepared and be patient because no other mod on this car will have the same effect. It's literally like a different car. It doesn't have the 340lbs-ft my SS did but it's still a lot more fun than stock.

Thanks to BNR for keeping on Trifecta's butt for updates. Trifecta is busy and the last thing we want is for updates to be rushed.
