Brake dust build up

Just wondering if anyone knows if brake dust will continue to be produced throughout the life of the brakes or is it just in the first lot of miles on a new set of brake pads? Also, what is the easiest way to clean and keep clean my rims from all the brake dust that is produced? Thanks
