So I have started to hear a new engine ticking noise. Im able to hear this noise from inside the cabin but the windows have to be up and the stereo off and I have to listen for it. Its a faint noise its not extremely loud from inside the cabin anyway. The noise is a very similar ticking sound that our engines valve springs make. I have established the only time I hear the sound is when im in gear and using the throttle. If im stopped and in neutral I dont hear it. If im in neutral and use the throttle to reve the engine I dont hear it. Also the noise will go away if im in gear and let off the throttle to decelerate. Im not sure what it might be the only ideas I have are possibly the timing chain tensionser or the drive belt tensioner or bearing. Another idea I have is it could very well be the valve springs just being louder. The car has 170k miles.
