ECM Died

Forgot to post about this the other day.

Driving to work, cruise control set at 72 mph, and all of a sudden I had absolutely no engine power. Reduced engine power showed on my display. I coasted to the side of the freeway (during congested morning traffic) and tried to restart. Nothing. Threw two codes before it died completely, both were related to the ECM. P16F3 and P062B. I tried to restart, nothing. My ultragauge stopped reading. I couldn't read or write to the ECM. I was towed to work (dealership) and gave it to my service advisor.

5 hours later, I had a completely new ECM since it was determined that my ECM suffered an internal failure, through no fault of my own.

Looks good in the rain though.

Side note, while my car did die in the rain and I got wet, a Michigan State Trooper pulled up and offered to help, mentioned how dark/illegal my tint was, and didn't write me a ticket.

Just trying to collect some statistics for our engines.
Can i get people who have a OBDII scanner to make note of your exhaust gas temperature's at idle, highway cruising @ 65 MPH and WOT MAX

For my cruze its the following;

Idle: <1000°F (400-500°C)
Highway: 1300-1500°F (700-800°C)
WOT: 1500-1700°F (800-900°C)

Will it really make a difference?

2017 Chevy Cruze Hatchback LT Speaker Sizes

Hello. My 2017 Chevy Cruze Hatchback LT has 6 speakers and I was wondering what size speakers they all are. This vehicle is a sedan so it has 4 in the doors and 2 in the dash. The 2 in the dash might be tweeters but I am not sure. Can someone please help me find out the dimensions because I have some equipment that has not been used and I would like to swap the OEM stock speakers with the new speakers. Upon saying that though, I do not what to start taking apart panels and everything if I do not have the right size speakers. Based on what I seen, I noticed this same speaker configuration is in the original 2017 Cruze and 2016 Cruze with the appearance of the same size speakers. Thanks!

Engine replacement

I just replaced the engine in my 2012 1.8 automatic Cruze. Everything went back in place like it should. I have power to the dash. But when I try to start it, I get nothing. I have tested all parts individually and all are good. When put on a scan tool I get U0100, no communication with ECM. I have checked all grounds, they appear to be good. Every thing worked fine until the engine quit.

I have read this is not the most uncommon problem when replacing the engine. But no one has given a solution.

Does anyone have an ECM pin out diagram, or know where to get one. So I can check for continuity.

So happy that I came across this forum. I'm a new driver who recently purchased a 2013 Cruze (1st car) which I had been looking at for months. My car has 71,000 miles on it and still has that new car smell. I am relying on my friends and research to know about maintaining this car cause I am scared out of my mind. Any advice would you give a first time car owner? It would be so appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Just registered for the forum but have had my Cruze about 2 years now. Bought used with 16k miles on the vehicle. Powertrain is the 1.4l turbo, for some reason the turbo is very pronounced, always hear some spooling which is nice. Excited to be a part of this community.

So after Having two Different Cruzes for 5 1/2 years, I'm out! Gm Bought my 2012 LTZ back without me getting any lawyers involved for nearly $20k and I only paid $17K for it originally.. They threw in a $1500 for the money I spent out of warranty on the Nav unit that went out a few months ago out of warranty too! So it cost me just $550 to use it for 3 years 8 months...

Thanks for most the members help for the multitude of problems I had over the years..

So I bought a 2017 Malibu Premier loaded, got $8650 off the price as there are good deals right now.....All I can say about the 2.0L turbo is WOW! What an engine! ZERO turbo lag, and I'm averaging 26mpg wich is exactly the same as my gutless no power cruze...

The 9 speed trans is amazing and is so smooth you don't even notice it shifting, its crazy...Silly fast 14 sec 1/4 mile car...And so smooth to drive feels like a Benz..

Road Side Assistance/warranty question

According to http://www.chevrolet.ca/warranty.html, my warranty includes road side assistance. I was about to get a CAA membership when I read this.

Are there any caveats I should know about? Has anyone had experience using GM for roadside assistance? Should I get CAA anyway?

2012 Cruze - Coolant sensor installation?

$

Hey there folks.

I've been driving an old Chrysler LHS 2000 for the longest time, and finally purchased my deceased grandfather's 2012 Chevy Cruze from my folks because I felt it was time to get a car that wasn't over half my age. She's been doing just fine, but I've occasionally been getting a check engine light (it comes and goes, mostly isn't there). I hooked up an OBD-II tool and got back a P0597 code. There seems to be a lot of debate about whether or not this is the thermostat itself or just the sensor - it's been fixed from both. I've decided to try the cheaper alternative first: the sensor replacement.

Now my question is, where do I find this sucker? There seems to be some variation on part location between the 2011 and 2013 Cruze models, while I am right in the middle. Here's the car specs:

2012 Chevy Cruze 2LS
Engine: 1.8L L4 DOHC 16V FFV
Part: ACDelco 213-4688 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

I'd post some pictures but I'm a new member, so, let me know if you need any more information!

New to this forum, but not new to forums. I'm a pretty active member on a dart forum as well. Long story short, I've been playing with my Dart and now my wife has decided that she wants me to upgrade her Cruze (2014 LS 1.8L NA) as well. So far she just wants footwell lighting (easy), cruise control (wtf car doesn't have cruise control standard), and to upgrade her bluetooth so that it can play music from her Galaxy S8 (read a post about a guy that replaced his bluetooth module with a Camaro's and it worked perfectly). I'm looking into major HP gains for her. Any and all help is appreciated and I will bestow any knowledge I have to the group as well.
My back story? Retired from the Army last month. I manage a subway sandwich shop. Been playing with cars since I was a kid with my pops. Pops was a diesel mech (amphibious assault vehicle, for anyone who wants to know) in the USMC. Wife's an absolute peach. She's a nurse. We have 2 dogs. Not really sure where else to take this thread. Hit me up if you want.

PCV Check Valve

Firstly big thanks to Xtreme Revolution for the great write up on PCV issues. I followed his instructions and can see the nipple/valve but it looks quite dirty (greasy) not orange/pink/peach could this itself be the/indicate an issue? No hissing sound at the diaphragm so that bit seems to be fine.

I have the below symptoms

- Smoke blowing through the tail pipe along with water droplets even after 20 mins of idling
- Long term fuel trim greater than 30%
- Rough idle
- Loss of power
- Reduced fuel economy

CEL with code PO0171, PO0300

About 18 months ago the turbo, water pump, oil pickup, rocker cover were replaced.

During the recent service the spark plugs were replaced. Could this be the cause if installed incorrectly?

I bought my car from a mechanically inept dealer

I bought this 2013 LT RS from a place that gave me a good deal. All I can say is that they are good at selling! Their service dept is loaded with mechanically inept service managers. I went up today to get a 2nd key FOB and key as they only had 1 when I purchased. I mentioned this will be programmed for my car right? and he said in a tone that made me feel as he was doing me a favor for doing this when I described to him how to do it. Then I asked about tires for my car(what they had) and I asked if they could get the Altimax RT43 and he proceeded to tell me how much I would hate them based on his 12 years of being a Service mgr. when I was just asking for prices and I mentioned that unless I agree with them they don't want to talk to me. So I went back to see their parts dept which he said they sell lots of RT43s. Then for grins and giggles I asked for prices of various tires. Most everything they had was 129 for the Continental Pro Contacts and the RT43s. Even for fun I asked how much the FR710s were and those were 110 where everywhere else in the outside world wants @ $85.

Aside from that I traded in a car that was starting to have pass lock issues(thinks it is being stolen and won't start) 2005 Chevy classic. When I got there the salesman that sold me my car asked if I had trouble with it starting. So I told him about the pass lock problem but they asked me about how to get it started and I mentioned they were a dealership and should know how to fix it. I told them how to start it and how to fix it?

Trust me, the only thing that has me compelled to go back there for anything is that they offer a lifetime mechanical warranty as long as I get all my oil changes etc done there. Believe me that is quickly diminishing in my mind as I wouldn't trust them to fix my car!!!!!
