Cruze trip.jpg
Our west coast trip from Minnesota to Los Angeles for the World Police and Fire Games rolled our little Cruze into the 100,000 mile club. This is the same Cruze made famous when my wife added diesel to the DEF tank. That was over 2 trouble free years ago. We have had an assortment of emissions system warranty work done but always at no cost to us. The mileage has continued to impress us. This screen is a little deceiving since if we had actually driven what it shows as our average speed our mileage would have been better. That is actually a combination of 85 mph and stop and go Los Angeles traffic. Also when your crossing South Dakota why is the wind in your face when your going west and again when you come back east? Just doesn't seem right somehow! What a fun car to drive!
The tech at the Service deck at our dealer keeps saying that the Cruze doesn't require a new timing belt, I guess I'll have to go over his head!
I've been reading about replacing the water pump also when this is done? What might a person expect to pay to have this done to keep our Cruze happy?

P.S. I add the DEF now......

Low Amplifier Prices

Just passing this along. While researching amplifiers online I stumbled across this website with some very low prices on amplifiers I've been considering for purchase. These are new units & some of them are ridiculously low in comparison to the normal low prices of Amazon & E-Bay.
I'm a bit, too good to be true, skeptical. Anyone had any dealings with this website??

So looking for other options. Anyone else tried or know of any other fmic options for the 1.4? What about custom piping in a Cobalt SS FMIC? Lol

Hi guys I'm new here and have a real simple question...I tend to always 2nd guess things so lookin for opinions .
I just recently bought a 2017 chevy Cruze LS, im not a huge fan of the stock rim and hubcaps they come with. I'm thinking of buying 4 rim and wheel replacements off someone who was the owner of a 2016 chevy Cruze. I believe the size differs by 1" , his are 16" mine are15" Will this cause any issues since I'm going up in size? Thanks

Sound System Update and General Cosmetic Questions

Hey!

COSMETICS:

To start with, does anyone know any generally inexpensive cosmetic upgrades for the Cruze that you think makes the car "pop?" I put two rally stripes above my tire well and I love that, also put carbon fiber bowtie stickers on my previously gold bowtie. I have tinted tail lights and 5% tinted windows, only thing I don't have are aftermarket rims and those are out of budget at the moment :/ I'm also buying OPT 7 LED interior light strips to install. I just want more things to make it look nice. I bought the Spec-D Aftermarket Projector Headlights for my car just for general style improvements and I'm going to have them fitted to run either HID or LED bulbs. This should look a lot better than the stock headlights in my opinion with the LED running halo ring and eyelash. I'm looking into a SEQUENCE dual rear diffuser to make it look more sporty but I don't know how that is supposed to fit with my single exhaust pipe?

SOUND SYSTEM:

I finally decided to pull the trigger on a sound system for my car. My electrical engineer friend who is obsessed with car audio is going to install a new system in my car this upcoming weekend. I went ahead and bought a Rockford Fosgate Prime D Class 500W amp, a Rockford Fosgate P3D4 DVC 4-Ohm 12" sub to go with it (would have gotten a Type-R or a Sundance sub but they weren't available on Amazon where I work and have discounts for) which I've seen some examples and this amp/sub combo slams REALLY hard for a single sub setup. I'll be putting the sub into a BB12-200V box which from what I've read is one of the best prefabs available on the market and is the exact specifications for that specific sub.

Not going to stick with the factory stereo so I'm upgrading that to a Kenwood DDX374BT Double Din with a glossy black dash kit to replace the greyish/silver stock one.

It's not meant to be a competition system by any means whatsoever but it should shake the car and punch really hard which I'm excited for.

I'm never good at these introductions posts, so I apologize in advance.

My name's Chris, I own a 2011 White Chevy Cruze 2LS, 1.8L w/ 6-speed manual. My mom bought it brand new, and when I moved to Michigan 3 years ago, she basically begged me to take over her payments, as she hated the car. It worked out great for me at the time, as the local shop had just destroyed the head of my JDM Civic (refused to listen to me that the engine wasn't stock), and I was basically tired of sinking money into that pit.

As for mods, I haven't really done anything worth noting...yet. Tinted the windows, removed the hubcaps, threw a K&N drop filter, and then earlier today I bypassed the intake resonator (jury is still out on this one). Sound system wise, I'm running stock speakers and head unit, but (after custom rigging) I did add 2 12"s with a 1600 watt amp (can't remember the brand right now). The custom rigging was wiring in a high level input off the back door speakers, and running my remote wire off the rear power outlet socket. Body wise, I'd like to add a lip kit / skirt kit to it eventually, but for now it's stock with some stitches in the front (freak styrofoam accident).

I decided to join you guys to see what I could do to my Cruze to make it more fun. With that, I'm still trying to figure out what the two different tunes are, and how to do them. So thanks for having me, and if you have questions, feel free to ask, as I'm pretty much an open book.

Punk My Paint

I have a white 2014 Cruze LT2. It has been a nice car so far but I have an issue I would like to resolve with a minimum of expense.

It is white.

I mean, while i appreciate the fact that this color keeps my car from becoming an intolerable oven (I live and work in a literal desert), I just do not like the color white. This is a side-effect of my night-adaptation. Brightness (like that of the accursed day-star which powers the desert in which I inhabit) physically pains me.

So, I want to change things up a little: I want make my vehicle slightly less bright (plain, vanilla, non-descript, what-have-you), at least on the sides and possibly the front. I also have an old-school punk sensibility so the more outlandish of ideas, the better. For instance, I told Dngrswife I wanted to run a pinstripe along the side of the vehicle, but like have it wander a bit. I also thought about putting cow-spots on the sides...

What do you guys think, have any ideas?

Does My Car Already Have the Trifecta Tune?

I purchased my car used and was wondering if it might have the Trifecta Tune already.

2013 Cruze LT SR MT (Non-ECO)

After the car warms up:
At 87 Octane it idles rough.
AT 89 Octane it is a bit smoother
AT 93 Octane Shell it's smooth as glass

When I turn off the Cruise Control the acceleration is awesome. With the cruise on it can be a bit lackluster and I have to keep it closer to 3K RPM to get it moving.

When I check out CarFax, the first owner replaced the front wheels after 20K miles. I figure he/she melted them some.

The car holds down 33 mpg mixed driving on 87 octane and 36 - 38 on 93 (I've even seen 40 MPG).

Does the trifecta tune cause the RPM and MPH gauge to be delayed in their sweeps? I get a lot more delay with the cruise off.

Many Thanks,
C.

Exceedingly frustrated with Onstar

So i want the basic membership which is free. I called Onstar through the car, and it tells me that if I want to speak in English, I need to say "English" (I'm in Canada) . I dutifully say "English" at which point the robot says, "Your call has ended, Goodbye."

I do this several times.

I call with my cell phone. Talk to a live person, who tells me to call from my car. Groan.

I shall try again.

Best way to store DEF in tank?

So the DEF in my tank has been just sitting there since this spring (Thanks Fleece!), and today I got around to ripping it out. It's still got a gallon or so left after I drained it out. What's the best way to store it? I'm only keeping it and the DPF in case either the laws here change, or if I ever sell it (both have a very low chance of happening).

Just hoping to get some answers for general questions.

Removing the Sun Visor from a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Eco

I am trying to remove the sun visor on a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze eco. I have taken the cover off the mounting plate that secures the visor to the roof and removed the 3 screws on the mounting plate with a T-15 Torx screw driver. The problem is that the Sun Visor with the mounting plate is still mounted to the roof.

There is one other step that I can't figure out. (See link below at the bottom for the instructions I was trying to follow. Once you bring up the link, Scroll down to the part about the sun visor). There is a slot in the mounting plate (with a clip) that holds the sun visor on the ceiling of the car. There are two white tabs (one on the right and one on the left) inside that can be pulled together with needle nose pliers. The directions say: In this slot "there are two clips that need to be squeezed together and pushed through utilizing the needle nose pliers."

I have no idea what is meant by "pushed through." Pushed where? I tried squeezing he clips together to "pull" them down towards me and that doesn't do anything. Pushing on them doesn't accomplish anything either. I'm stuck and I can't mounting plate off or the visor off, because that part of the instructions makes no sense to me.

I took a couple of pictures of my mounting bracket and sun visor if that will help. The first picture is just a photo of my sun visor. The second photo is a close up of the mounting bracket. The Slot in the mounting bracket with the two white tabs is the wide, narrow slot towards the top of the photo.

Center front Console hot to the touch

This may be an electronics issue, so I am not even sure I am posting to the right section.

This morning I noticed that my center console was very hot to the touch on the throttle side right where your right shin would be, and felt quite warm to the touch right in the bay where the USB plug is. Anyone have this issue? I think I recall this being a complaint with Gen1 a while ago as well.
